Quo has  been a hit/miss kind of brand to me and while I’ve enjoyed quite a few of their hits ( a la lipsticks) , their eyeshadows have usually fallen short. New for Spring 2014, this pallete has all my favorite shades ( earthy, nothing too loud, with some pops of jewel tone colors). I HAD to have it.

Packaging

I bought it mainly BECAUSE of the packaging! Its really very pretty and compact. Feels sturdy and not cheap. It does include that silly little sponge applicator though, which I really don’t see the point of. I’d use my fingers over those applicators. Why does every brand include them? why ! why! (( shakes fist to the heavens )))

Texture

While they are definitely not along the lines of MAC or Urban Decay shadows in terms of quality, there wasn’t as much fallout as I was expecting and the colours although shimmery in the pan don’t look tacky or too shiny once on the lids. I also like that it has three matte colours  in there that are NOT CHALKY (gasp!) and the lightest one can easily be used as a blending colour and /or highlight shade.

I’ve listed the shades that I used for my look here(click to enlarge):

 Pigmentation

It appears to look more washed out than it actually is in person with the flash. However the colours ARE on the sheerer side and will have to be used over a much lighter base (I like MAC’s bare canvas or NYC jumbo pencil in Milk or even L.A. Girl Pro Primer Eyeshadow Stick in Nude).I had to really pack on the colour to get the colours to show on my lids.

Verdict

I really wanted to declare this a DEELight because the colours are oh -so-pretty but the texture and pigmentation are a fail in my book.  It would make for an OK travel palette but even then, I would carry my Wet & Wild Color Icon Palette in Comfort Zone over this. Sorry Quo! Better luck next time:(
