I generally shy away from Matte lipsticks because they don’t play nice with my already dry lips. But sometimes nothing says polished and ready like a pretty matte lip. Lo and behold, I picked up Revlon ColorBurst Crayon Matte Balm in Sultry
It’s the typical jumbo lip pencil type packaging that seems to be the norm these days. While the Lacquer balms in this rangy have a shiny packaging, the Matte balms have the Matte packaging, which is a nice visual touch to differentiate quickly between the two. It is retractable which is a nice plus. NO sharpening required!
Wow. This packs a punch! There’s no question of applying this with a light hand! It applies with full intensity at the lightest touch. While I don’t usually like that quality in a lipstick, its a great characteristic if you want to get it to full intensity in a hurry.
Granted it is matte and it is a drugstore product, but honestly it wasn’t as drying as I had expected it to be! Sure it would feel more comfortable with a gloss on top, but that’s MOST matte lipsticks (Lancome color design matte lipsticks for example are SO NOT drying). The picture above is super magnified but at normal viewing distance it really doesn’t make my lips look like the Sahara. Looks more like this:
Lasted a good 4 hours and faded to a stain. It had faded ever so slightly after a few hours
I had worn it in this look when I reviewed the Kat Von D eyeshadow in Love Letter :
