Another item from my recent haul while on vacation in LA. I always thought Bare Escentuals and Bare Minerals were two different brands! I only just learned that Bare Minerals is just the name of the Mineral Makeup Line owned by Bare Escentuals! I bought this in Golden Medium which may be a half shade too light for my currently med-dark/NC skin but with a light hand, it works just fine. It has an SPF of 20 which is nice.
29$ USD for 14g (o.49oz) of product. For comparison, Benefit’s Hello Flawless powder foundation is priced close to that for just 7 g of product
It comes in a cute little compact that has a mirror inside. I like it because its pretty sleek/flat. Takes up less space in my already overflowing makeup drawer/handbag!
I know it looks like a scary shade of yellow in the pan, but if you have warm undertones this won’t make you look all jaundiced ! It is however, very pigmented – so even the lightest touch of it WILL cover. This can be a pro and a con – when in doubt always apply with a light hand! Infact…ALWAYS apply with a light hand – pigmentation can always be built up as needed!
This is a very finely milled powder. I’ve tried putting it on a with a rather dense kabuki brush, a more fluffy powder brush as well as with a MAC 187 brush. My favourite application came from the MAC 187 brush which picked up just the right amount of this super pigmented powder. I did not find it drying and it also wore well under my eyes ( with no creasing /cakiness). HOWEVER, the powder does make me feel like I have *something* on my face…if you’ve read my previous posts, then you know that that is a feeling I realllly dislike! It makes me imagine that it looks as dry/cakey as it feels, when in reality it actually looks quite wonderful!
Granted summer is not here in full swing yet in Canada but it has lasted 10+ hours without any issues!

This has all the right factors to make it a DEELight, but that slightly HEAVY feeling is keeping it a notch below that class! Definitely a decent purchase for the summer, but I still prefer Benefit’s Hello Flawless powder foundation over this one. My skin isn’t on its best behaviour either right now, so I’ll give it a couple more tries before I classify it one way or another.
Update 18/5: After using several times now, I think it works well to set under eye concealer because of its uber-yellow undertones, but isn’t that awesome as an all over powder. I can live without it. Sadly it’s…
