I shared some of my drugstore DEElights of the month already , and thought I better do this post before August is way in my distant past! I did buy some of these items in July but didn’t really use them until August because I was travelling all of July and didn’t want to take items I wasnt sure of on a long trip. I wish I had tho, because these products are pretty darn awesome ! Here they are :
I’ll give you the highlights and breakdown here :
Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder:
I bought this in the shade Medium Dark, but there isn’t a big difference at all between medium and medium-dark. It looks super dark there for some reason but it’s SO finely milled that it just melts into your skin once applied and helps makeup look SO much better and last SO much longer. Between this and my NARS setting powder I have had no issues having my makeup look freshly applied for longer than a 12 hour day ( gymming and sweating included!!) . It REALLY IS THAT GOOD!! It was around 40$ CAD, but that jar can quite literally last me for years. In the picture below you may not be able to tell the difference between the last two pictures too well but in person this powder makes a huge difference ( for the better). I’ve tried a gagillion setting powders and this is the most finely milled one that I’ve ever tried and cannot recommend it enough.
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer:
I use shade #4 in this and this is the 2nd time I’m buying this – I finished the last one completely. I bought it at duty free on the way to Istanbul (around 26$ CAD) . I missed this concealer when I didn’t have it!! It acts more as a corrector for me but it is *SO* creamy , never creases, is super pigmented, never flat/dull and does a wonderful job at concealing my amazingly prominent south asian dark circles!! You can read about how I camouflage these bad boys here , but in the meantime do yourself a favour and buy this if you have dark circles like I do. Even if you don’t, this works wonderfully to brighten up the eye area. Everyone can use that! I also have her more recent concealer that comes in a tube but it’s just not as good. BTW Benefit’s erase paste is very similar to this , just a lot “stickier” and can crease if you’re not careful.
Stila ColorBalm Lipstick in the shade Evangeline
Where to begin with this one. I love lipsticks and love so many of them, but even among the many, many, many lipsticks that I own, this one stands out. It’s described as a dusty rose but doesn’t come off that way on my lips. Regardless, it is one beautiful lipstick!
It’s called a balm but it’s actually super pigmented and wears for ages. It’s very comfortable ( I guess hence the “balm” in the name) but not slippery. At 22$ a lipstick it’s not exactly cheap but this is a winner in every way possible in my books. I did however buy the shade Isla from Winners (TJMaxx in the US) and that wasn’t as nice in texture as this one. Infact it was a bit dry and looked patchy on application , so try before you buy with this line!
Edward Bess blushes and Chanel Creme blush in Presage:
I’ve mentioned the Chanel presage before as one of my duty-free purchases. Presage is probably so famous that I don’t have to say much about it, but I will say everything you’ve heard about it is true and it is a fantastic blush! I wore this pretty much everyday when I was on vacation and it lasted through the heat and humidity well into the night. Not to mention it’s such a gorgeous colour as well!!
Now, for the Edward Bess blushes, my inner beauty blogger shrieked in excitement when I found these babies at my local Winners one day ! The powder blush is Desert Blossom and the cream one is called Love Affair. I think I got both of them together for around 28$ CAD, which is an absolute steal! Theyre both SO gorgeous and come in little velvet pouches ( like the chanel blushes). I’m wearing the cream blush here ( on cheeks and lips):
It can be built up to be much darker but I like this for the MBB ( Myself But Better :)) ) look. The powder blush is also gorgeous but I didn’t take any pics of that one sorry I like layering them as well for more staying power ( which isn’t the greatest unfortunately but I forgive if the reason is right lol). Also have the UD loose powder on in that picture .
Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade:
The shade I have is Dark Brown. I bought it after I saw Carly sing its praises time and again ( that girl is goooorrrgeous btw) ! I love it to bits. Haven’t stopped using it since the time I got it. I love brow pomades and this one doesn’t disappoint. Mind you I did love the ELF brow powder and gel as well as another compact by Anastasia before this , but this is in a class by itself. It looks super natural ( am wearing it in the pic above and probably the ones above it as well) , but can be built up as needed and lasts all day long. Highly recommend this one as well.
So that wraps up my non-drugstore DEElights for August. You *must* have a few (or a lot). Do share!!! Oh and…
